hundred shmundred

Fact #1:  whenever she hears the word "pilates," my niece lays down on the floor, sticks her feet in the air and pumps her arms at her sides in a pretty good imitation of the torturous "Hundred" (one hundred pumps with the arms while your legs are at a 45-degree angle or so).

Fact #2:  in my family, we tend to talk more about working out than we actually do it.

Result:  she got super excited the other day when i ACTUALLY STARTED DOING PILATES.  she came running over, lay down next to me and started the Hundred.  she watched my face, riveted as i kept count for us and occasionally reminded her to breathe.  then somewhere around fifteen, she put her legs down, turned to me and suggested, "geegoo," with an accompanying sign in ASL.

apparently it was time for a cookie.

Smart girl. Did you acquiesce on the cookie?

no cookie, just raucous laughter from everyone and a high-five from me, both of which she thrives on. i was just so proud, only 22 months and already a woman: "alright, i did my workout, now where's my damn geegoo?"

This has to be one of the cutest pics I've seen in a while. She's well on her way to playing a rogue or spy. Hehe. Heya, don't forget to give me an email about animal crossing and such. My town has oranges, peaches, cherries and pears. If only I could get apples *sighs*. Miss you.

Sounds like she's got the system figured out! I tremble to think what she'll be like as a teenager!

if there's one thing that child loves more than geegoos, it's laughter
and applause. it completely made her forget about the
cookie. which is good, since she asks for cookies at random
moments several times a day. i'm sure if you gave her a pack of
cookies, she would flirt with you shamelessly until you gave her
another! 😉 yeah, teenaged niece… scary thought!
